1. Introduction

FitAsia (“the App”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) is a mobile calorie- and nutrition-tracking application. The App is published on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store under the developer name AInstitute and is operated by Tony Chandra, an individual developer based in Tangerang Selatan, Indonesia.

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect when you use FitAsia, how we use and protect it, who we share it with, and the rights and choices you have. By creating an account or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information we collect

We only collect the information needed to provide the App’s core features: calorie tracking, analysis of food photos and meal descriptions, and progress tracking.

Referral codes (optional)

  • If you enter a referral code from an affiliate (someone who promotes FitAsia for a commission, such as a content creator or a friend) when you create your account, we store that code with your account.
  • If you then buy or renew FitAsia Pro, we record the purchase amount, currency, date, store (App Store or Google Play) and the store’s transaction ID, so we can pay that affiliate a commission.
  • If you install FitAsia through an affiliate’s link, the app can fill in their code for you in the “Affiliate code” box when you create your account. On Android, it uses the install information that Google Play provides with the app. On iPhone, the affiliate’s page copies the code, and the app reads your clipboard only if you allow it when your iPhone asks (“Allow Paste”); it tries this only once. If the copied text looks like a code (3 to 20 letters and numbers), the app checks it with our server and fills it in only if it is an active affiliate code. Any other copied text is ignored and never leaves your phone. You can change or delete the code before you create your account.
  • When there is a code in the box, the app checks with our server whether it is an active affiliate code, so it can show “Code applied”. We do not keep the codes that are checked; a code is only saved to your account when you create your account with it.

Affiliate applications (optional)

  • If you apply to become a FitAsia affiliate, we collect the information in that form: your name, email, WhatsApp number, country, how you plan to promote FitAsia, your social media links, and the bank account details you provide so we can pay your commission.

a) Account information

  • Name (the display name you enter, or the name from your Google or Apple account)
  • Email address
  • Profile photo (optional)
  • Sign-in provider details when you use Google or Apple to sign in.
    If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we
    receive a private relay address rather than your real one.
  • Subscription status and purchase history if you subscribe to
    FitAsia Pro (we never receive or store your payment card details).

b) Health and fitness information

  • Gender, Age, Height
  • Current weight and goal weight
  • Your goal (lose, maintain, or gain weight) and activity level
  • Daily calorie and water goals (calculated by the App)

c) Food, water, and activity logs

  • Photos of food that you scan or upload for analysis
  • Food and nutrition entries (calories, macronutrients, AI-generated results)
  • Water intake logs
  • Weight logs over time
  • Step / activity logs (if enabled)
  • Descriptions you type, and corrections you type to fix a result
  • The daily count of scans, fixes and described meals

d) Information collected automatically

Our service providers may automatically collect limited technical data such as a device identifier and basic diagnostic information. We do not collect your location, payment information, contacts, or browsing history. On Android, the app can read your device’s advertising ID so that we can measure our own ads (see “Ad measurement” in Section 5). You can delete or reset it at any time in your phone’s settings (Settings > Privacy > Ads). On iPhone, the app does not read your advertising ID and does not ask for permission to track you.

3. How we use your information

  • Create and manage your account and sign you in
  • Analyze food photos and the meal descriptions you type to estimate nutritional content
  • Calculate your personalized daily calorie and nutrition goals
  • Save your food, water, weight, and activity history
  • Keep the App secure and diagnose problems
  • Respond to your questions and support requests
  • To pay a commission to the affiliate whose referral code you used, and to keep accurate records of those payments, including cancelling a commission if your purchase is refunded.

We do not sell your personal data. We never use your food, health or weight data for advertising. We do not share it with data brokers.

4. AI analysis of food photos and descriptions

When you scan or upload a food photo, or type a description of a meal or drink, the photo and the text are sent to Google’s Vertex AI service for automated analysis. The same applies to a correction that you type to fix a result. Vertex AI returns an estimate of the food and its nutritional content, which the App saves to your food log. A description that you typed is saved with that entry.

  • Photos and descriptions are processed only to provide the nutrition estimate you requested.
  • Please do not include personal information about yourself or other people in a description.
  • Nutrition estimates are automated and may not always be accurate. They are for general informational purposes only and are not medical or dietary advice.

5. How your data is stored and who we share it with

FitAsia is built on Google Firebase and Google Cloud. We rely on the following Google services:

  • Firebase Authentication — account creation and sign-in
  • Cloud Firestore — stores your profile, goals, and logs
  • Firebase Storage — stores your food and profile photos
  • Firebase Crashlytics and Performance Monitoring — crash and performance diagnostics
  • Google Vertex AI — analyzes food photos and meal descriptions to estimate nutrition
  • The Affiliate — whose referral code you used: they only see anonymous figures, such as how many subscriptions they referred and their value. We never share your name, email address, photos or health data with them.

Your data is stored primarily in Google’s Southeast Asia (asia-southeast1, Singapore) region.

Subscription processing
If you subscribe to FitAsia Pro, your purchase is processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We never receive or store your payment card details.

We use RevenueCat to verify subscription receipts and manage subscription status. RevenueCat receives your app user ID, purchase receipts, subscription status, and basic device and platform information. It does not receive your food logs, photos, weight, or other health data.

Apart from the Google services listed above, RevenueCat and Adjust, and through Adjust the ad network named under “Ad measurement” below, are the only third parties that receive any of your data.

Ad measurement (Android and iPhone)

If you installed FitAsia after seeing one of our ads, for example on TikTok, we use Adjust, an ad measurement service, to learn which ad led to the install and whether it led to a free trial or a subscription, so we can tell which ads work. On Android, Adjust receives your device’s advertising ID, an Adjust ID, basic device and app information (such as the app version and your device model), and the events “install”, “trial started” and “subscription started”, including the price of the subscription (RevenueCat reports these events). On iPhone, Adjust receives an Adjust ID, your device’s vendor identifier (an ID that is the same for all FitAsia apps on your device and cannot be used to recognise you in other companies’ apps), and basic device and app information; installs are attributed through Apple’s SKAdNetwork, and we do not read your advertising ID. Adjust shares the result with the ad network (TikTok) so that it can show our ads to similar people. Adjust and the ad network do not receive your name, email address, photos, food logs, weight or other health data. To stop this on Android, delete your advertising ID in your phone’s settings.

6. Data security

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and access is restricted by Firebase security rules so that you can only read and write your own data.

7. Data retention

We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data is deleted as described in Section 8.

Commission records: if you bought a subscription after using a referral code, we keep the record of that purchase even after you delete your account, for as long as we need it for accounting, tax and refund purposes. It contains only a random account ID (not your name or email), the referral code, and the purchase amount, currency, date, store and transaction ID. It contains no photos or health data.

8. How to access, correct, and delete your data

Access and correction: You can view and edit your profile inside the App on the Edit Profile screen.

Deleting your account: You can permanently delete your account at any time:

  1. Open the App and go to Profile → Delete Account
  2. Re-authenticate, then confirm the deletion

This deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. If you cannot access the App, email us or visit our account deletion page.

One exception: if you bought a subscription after using a referral code, the commission record for that purchase is kept, as described in Section 7.

9. Your privacy rights

You may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your data. In Indonesia, these rights are provided under Undang-Undang No. 27 Tahun 2022 (UU PDP). Contact us using the details in Section 11 to exercise these rights.

10. Children’s privacy

FitAsia is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we learn we have done so without consent, we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will change the “Last updated” date and notify you within the App where appropriate.

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the Republic of Indonesia, including the UU PDP.
