Frequently Asked Questions 💬
We answer your questions
Everything you need to know about FitAsia — the calorie tracker built for Asian diets.
Is FitAsia free to download?
Yes! FitAsia is free to download on Google Play. Core features including calorie tracking, AI food scanning, and the Southeast Asian food database are available for free. Premium features may be introduced in future updates.
Which countries and food databases are supported?
FitAsia currently supports food databases from Malaysia (MyFCD), Indonesia, Philippines (PhilFCT), Thailand, and Vietnam (ASEANFOODS/Mahidol). We are continuously expanding our database to cover more Southeast Asian cuisines.
How accurate is the AI food scanner?
The AI food scanner uses GPT-powered image recognition to identify your meal and estimate its nutritional content. Accuracy improves when photos are clear and well-lit. For best results, photograph your food from directly above. You can always manually adjust the values after scanning.
How does FitAsia calculate my calorie and macro goals?
FitAsia uses the H.Y. Liu BMR formula, which is specifically validated for Asian body types, combined with your activity level (PAL factor) to calculate your TDEE. From there, macro targets for carbs, protein, fat, fiber, sugar, and sodium are automatically set based on your health goals.
Does FitAsia sync with Google Fit or Health Connect?
Health Connect integration (for step count and calorie burn sync from Android) is on our roadmap and will be available in a future update. Stay tuned!
